Nursing at Methodist
|
 | I have been the Director of Nursing for over twenty years at Methodist Hospital Union County. It has truly been a fascinating and rewarding journey. It has not only been an honor, but a pleasure to work with this highly skilled team of nurses.
Over the years I have witnessed an earnest commitment from the nursing staff to achieve the highest standards and deliver quality patient care to all of their patients. They are highly skilled and versatile. As a small rural Critical Access Hospital they have the opportunity to care for all age groups, from the infant to the juvenile diabetic, pre- and post-operative surgery patients, total hip and knee replacements, assist with trauma in the Emergency Room, and short term ventilator dependent critical care patients.
All I can say is, WOW... am I impressed or what? I am so proud of them and the work that they do!
They indeed are autonomous. They speak up and speak out. The Nursing staff has excellent critical thinking skills and are qualified to make knowledgeable independent decisions. They are dedicated to problem solving and evidence based practice. The Nursing staff work closely with the Medical staff to establish and follow a plan of care. They have a passion for providing health care to their community and it is evident in there daily practice of nursing.
Our nurses are impressive in the excellence that they provide in leadership and education. Patients and families can expect their nurses to provide them service with dignity, respect, privacy, and confidentiality. Nursing is central to this mission.
The nursing practice environment at Methodist Hospital Union County is ever changing and allows for nurses to be innovative leaders. Nursing has been an instrumental part of technological advances with equipment, and the building of a new clinical information system.
I am grateful for our hospital. I have witnessed so many lives saved that would have possibly been lost if the patient had to travel a greater distance before being stabilized. I have been so blessed by the opportunity to work at home and to be able to help make a difference in health care where I live.
If you are interested in “making a difference at home”, come and join us at Methodist Hospital Union County!
Sincerely,
Peggy Creighton RN Director of Nursing
